"Unter den Linden" was the name of Europe's first inn, which in the early 1990s presented its large group of Freiburg guests with a drinks menu in which the prices were displayed in the new European currency ECU as well as the German mark ("Remember: originally the new currency was to be called ECU = Europeen Currency Unit - later the decision was made for €URO !). In this map, which represents a small literary "work", the guests had the choice of a variety of drinks from the respective countries in addition to editorial contributions to "Country & People" of all then member countries. The hosts were also greeted in all national languages - even "Gaelic" for the Republic of Ireland. For this unique action the host family received great praise from important European top politicians, among others also from 3 European royal houses. Almost all media, such as the press, radio and TV, did not cut back on corresponding reports.
